The Mayor of the city of Patan, a large metropolis near Kathmandu in Nepal, came to France at the invitation of the recent congress of the Association of Mayors of France held in Paris. He went to Thonon on Saturday, November 20 to meet the Mayor of the city, Christophe Arminjon and a delegation from his municipal council.
The city of Patan (part of Lalitpur district) is a city in Nepal with more than 220,000 inhabitants. It is an ancient royal city, once capital and city of art, Lalitpur (the City of Beauty) is located 6 kilometers south of the center of Kathmandu. At the invitation of the 103rd Congress of Mayors of France, held in Paris from 15 to 18 November, the Mayor of Patan, Chiri Babu Maharjan, met the mayors of some French cities and wished to forge bonds of friendship with these cities. This is particularly the case of Thonon-les-Bains where the Mayor, Christophe Arminjon, received him Saturday, November 20 at the City Hall. A first contact that should soon bring a delegation of elected officials from Thonon to Nepal. It should be noted that many Chablaisiens, such as Dr. Yves Prunier, have very often gone to Nepal to initiate first aid gestures of Nepalese high-mountain guides.
